It is not only vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians who are passionate about fake meat products. Investors seem to have developed a taste for them too. Recent weeks have seen a flood of cash going into cultured meat technology firms such as Nourish and Meatable. Yet plant-based meat companies are getting their slice of the financial pie too.

Among them is the UK-based Better Nature which launched its latest fundraising campaign on the Seedrs platform in March. Within just three hours of the launch, it had achieved its initial target of £1,350,000. By March 29, it had reached its stretch crowdfunding target of £1.6 million. This was achieved within two days of launch, which makes it one of the fastest funded plant-based crowdfunders in Seedrs’ history.

Investors such as Ascension Ventures, Good Food Fund, and Kale United supported the campaign, along with many individual backers. The money will be used to fund nationwide marketing campaign, develop new products and launch into major supermarkets,

“We are delighted to have hit our crowdfunding target just two days after going public,” said Elin Robers, co-founder and head of marketing at Better Nature. “We are so grateful for everyone who has invested so far and can’t wait to bring this growing community with us on the next stage of our journey. Watch this space.”

Better Nature majors on Tempeh-based products and boasts a range that includes; BBQ Ribz, Smoky Rashers, Tempeh Mince and Roast Bites
