If you want a high-end e-bike you can buy one from a company that specialises in creating them, or from an established bike brand. Increasingly though a lot of the new e-bikes coming to the market are created by car brands looking to diversify.
So if you have deep pockets you need to take a look at the two new carbon fibre full-suspension e-bikes just unveiled by Porsche.
The Porsche eBike Sport and the Porsche eBike Cross were designed by Studio F. A. Porsche and developed in collaboration with German e-bike manufacturer Rotwild.
The Sport is a city bike designed for urban riding which will retail for £9,600 and features a Shimano EP8 mid-motor teamed with a 504Wh battery. Gear changes are handled by Shimano’s electronic Di2 11-gear system while the bike also has Magura MCi disc brakes and LED lights embedded in the seat post and handlebars.
Bizarrely Porsche describes The Cross as being “a perfect companion for gentle off-road terrain.” Then again how suited is a £7,650 electric bike suited to challenging conditions…
It sports Magura MT Trail brakes, a Shimano XT 12-fold shifting system and a Crankbrothers Highline seat post.
