Eat Just, the company that was first to get a cultured meat product onto a table in a restaurant, is now making its alt-meat even more accessible.
It has signed a deal with delivery service FoodPanda to offer a series of its GOOD meat products to anyone in Singapore.
The company which raised US$200 million financing round in March will offer three new limited-edition dishes featuring Eat Just’s GOOD Meat brand of cultivated chicken will be available in Singapore on Earth Day (April 22).
The dishes, which feature the meat that has been grown in the lab, include a katsu chicken curry, chicken coconut rice with pak choi, and chicken caesar salad with kale and a plant-based dressing. The dishes are prepared by 1880, the SIngapore restaurant that was first to offer Just’s products.
The dishes are SG$20 (UK £11) which seems comparatively cheap bearing in mind it was only eight years ago that cultured meat was coming in at £200k per burger.
Excitingly for Singapore residents this is apparently just the start and more GOOD meat items will be available via food delivery services in the future.
“Bringing GOOD Meat directly to the homes of people in Singapore with Foodpanda is another historically important step in our journey to build a safer, healthier food system,” commented Josh Tetrick, co-founder and CEO of Eat Just.
Jakob Angele, CEO of Foodpanda APAC, said that the partnership represents a milestone in bringing diners sustainably-produced proteins in a convenient and accessible way, starting in Singapore and hopefully in a number of other markets in the future.
“Foodpanda is thrilled to be the first platform in the world to deliver cultured meat dishes so that customers in Singapore can be the world’s first diners to enjoy them from the comforts of their home,” Angele said. “We hope to bring this to more – not just in Asia but also in every country in the world where Delivery Hero brands operate.”
